Thank You Iceland, But...

This blog has been dormant for a while, one of the reasons being the relief from noise we had thanks to the Iceland volcano! It decreased the amount of air-traffic enough for us in lower Fairfield County to feel a difference. Then things slowed down because of the B.P oil "spill." But... in the last week or 2, the planes are back, and boy, are they back with a vengeance! Wednesday morning, a turbo-prop and a helicopter flew really low over my house, at half-past-midnight and at 3 in the morning!

Here is a "quick sample" typical Sunday Aug. 1:

19:51 (meaning 7:51PM) small plane.... 19:52 Jet....19:53 Jet.....19:56 Jet..... 20:00 Jet and small plane.....20:03 Jet going NE..... 20:07 Jet going E or NE (hidden behind trees) 10:09 small plane heading E.... 20:P156 to 10:17 Jet going NE.....20:27 small plane going E. _Very_ loud.

noise log, Easton, CT, 5/22/2009

This was received by this blog and "TheGoosingOfGreenwich.blogspot.com" blog last month. It was compiled by an easton resident known to us for a long time.May 22, 2009, near the Merritt Parkway in Easton:In the few minutes I was home two jets roared low over my house at 6PM and 6:01 PM.They came over the north shore of the Lake, over the center of the Lake and over the parking lot to the south of the Lake, as logged belowAll times in military hours:

19:17 (This one paralleled the next one slightly ahead and bearing ESE)
19:18 (Slightly behind, this one bore ENE)
19:23
19:35: two planes parallel, one bearing ENE, the other, a 747, well under 1000’ and climbing steeply.

I drove back home and from the time I got out of the car… entered home… turned on some music 16 minutes later 10 planes had gone over, much lower than at the Lake, and would keep going over at the same rate for the rest of the night as they do every night now:20:0020:01 (A smaller jet heading form NW to SE, into Sikorsky Airport 50’ to 100’ above

planes went over between 18:00 to 18:11. I noticed something I hadn’t before when I came out at approximately 19:35. I saw, much higher up and farther north, the trail of a jet heading East to West. Then as I driving home, I saw another jet about ½ mile north, very high up at the same altitude, also traveling East to West. If you consider I logged 22 planes in an hour ...

Note:

THESE ARE NOT THE ONLY DATES AND TIMES THAT THIS MERCILESSLY RELENTLESS AND CEASELESS NOISE NIGHTMARE WAS CONTINUING TO BLITZ AND BLUDGEON ALL WHO COULD HEAR IT. ON THE CONTRARY, THEY ONLY REPRESENT A FRACTION OF THE HELL LIFE HAS BECOME SINCE THE FAA HAS UNLEASHED ALL THE EVILS IN PANDORA’S BOX.

This sample, recorded on July 12, is typical of what residents of Lower Fairfield County have experienced beginning in late 2007, due to phasing in of the F.A.A's so-called Airspace redesign.

In the log below, you'll read about low-flying planes, often every 2-3 minutes. Since each plane's noise lasts for a good 2-3 minutes, that means the noise experienced was practically continuous.

While Sunday, July 5, and Monday, July 6, 2009, brought much more plane-noise overhead, I was too tied up with other matters to be able to log those numerous overhead flights. This "sample" from a non-holiday Sunday is typical."J" denotes jet, "sm" denotes a medium or small plane, not a large jet. "NE" means the plane was seen heading Northeast, "S" means South, and likewise for other headings such as W meaning west. "dns" means I did not see the plane, which sounded as though it was hidden behind trees, but am very certain I did hear a plane and not the echo of some loud ground-vehicle. If a question-mark appears after the heading, it means I'm pretty sure that's where I heard a plane heading, but did not see it.

Weather: There was a bit of haze overhead but as the hour wore on sky cleared.

This blog is related to the http://TheGoosingOfGreenwich.blogspot.com site, which itself is a "resurrection" of an AOL blog from 2 years ago. While "the Goose" will probably contain more stories and talking points, this site will probably be dedicated to fly-over logs. Yes, we know from the Internet what's flying where, but the point here is -- to record what residetns of Lower Fairfield County in Connecticut have been experienceing, day and night, because of the FAA's babraric so-called "Airspace Redesign."
